Our Mission: To REACH out and serve all students who need support, by helping them attain their place in life through academic and interpersonal success.

REACH Program awarded The STAR of Innovation Award

The REACH Program found out this week that it has been awarded The STAR of Innovation Award for Southwestern MN. The REACH Program wishes to thank everyone who supports the program and believes in the mission: "REACH out and serve all students who need support to attain their place in life through academic and interpersonal success."

The Star of Innovation Award is an opportunity for MASSP to put the spotlight on remarkable programs led by our member principals. The award, created by Mary Merchant, Mary Slinde and Pat Schmidt, is designed to recognize a MASSP member school for the development and support of an exemplary and innovative educational program in their schools. MASSP recognizes that the school principals are instrumental to innovative programming in their buildings.

Programs nominated for the Star of Innovation award should demonstrate positive impact on education and advocacy for children, must be effective and innovative, and demonstrate creativity and imagination in bringing about positive change in the school. The program must also be able to be replicated at other schools.

MASSP will award and recognize three winning schools each year. A presentation will be made in the spring at a school assembly. The award winning schools will also be recognized at the MASSP Summer Workshop. Awards will be presented in the following school size category: student population of 500 or less, 501-1499, and 1500 and above.

Star of Innovation Award applications will be submitted to the Division President in February. Each division will select a winner in each school size category and pass it on to the State level for the final selection. The three winners per Division will be presented with a certificate as a division winner.

We are very excited about the Star of Innovation Award and look forward to sharing the great new innovative ideas that are being implemented in Minnesota schools!
